Visit to West Dean Kitchen Gardens, 11.00am. Monday June 15th 2015

After last year’s successful visit to Wisley the Allotment Liaison Committee has arranged a guided tour of the Kitchen Gardens at West Dean, near Chichester, on Monday June 15th., starting at 11.00am.

The tour will last approx. 90 minutes.

To find out more about West Dean go to www.westdean.org.uk

The party is limited to fifteen (15) and the cost will be £11.65 a head, payable on the day. (If the party is fewer than fifteen the charge will necessarily be slightly more).

It would be great to get a full complement, so if you wish to join us please contact Robert Green either by e-mail, greenrobertj@hotmail.com or phone, 01252 794860.

Travel will be by car. You will see from the website that refreshments are available, so if you wish to arrive earlier for coffee or stay for lunch afterwards, both are possible.

As always there is much to learn from other gardeners so please join us if you can for what will, I am sure, be a very interesting and worthwhile visit.

Robert Green, Allotment Liaison Committee Chairman.

Water Leaks

It was good to see the water had been turned on, but I’m disappointed that of the three taps/tanks at the Six Bells only one didn’t leak.  One had had a new ballcock, but the other two are leaking as the ballcocks need re-siting (and I suspect the one by the roman way entrance still needs a new tap).  I’d tied them up with string.  It might be an idea for the plot holders at other sites to check the tanks before we all get told off for wasting water.
